Named in honour of Georgiy Aleksandrovich Yurgenson (Юргенсон Георгий Александрови) (b. 16 October 1935, Kurovitsy, Leningrad region, Russia), Russian mineralogist, geochemist and specialist in studies of ore deposits at the Institute of Natural Resources, Ecology and Cryology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chita, Russia.
