0.4 × 0.2 × 0.1 cm
Description

Small but outstanding crystal group of the very rare sulphosalt mineral launayite in an analyzed specimen by SEM/EDS (see copy enclosed) from the type locality in Madoc, Canada. Madoc is known for being the Sb-equivalent of the Lengenbach deposit (where sulphosalts there, are always the As equivalents).

Cu in the analysis is present but not detected, this is probably due to its very low content (1 atom Cu in front of 42 atoms of the remaining chemical elements). In fact, article on type description of launayite don't even mention Cu:

Jambor, J.L. (1967) New lead sulfantimonides from Madoc, Ontario. Part 2 - mineral descriptions. The Canadian Mineralogist: 9: 191-213

.(launayite on p.191-193)

Ex Vandenbroucke Museum collection from Waregem, Belgium.
