Description

Flattened cleaved crystal of fluorite from Seilles, an old-time classic from Belgium. The colour change from blue to purple depending of the temperature of the incident light.

It has a nice zonation that is specially observed with backlight, forming a nice three arms star (the so called “Mercedes Star”), when observed parallel to the [111]. To adds yet more rarity to this piece it is strongly fluorescent, with an uncommon red colour, under ultraviolet light.

Collected by Marcel Volant at the end of the 1960’s, it was acquired in 1990 by Prof. Dr. Renaud Vochten (vochtenite).
