Description

This fluorite was self-collected in 2009 at the Lhamda Mine, near Touroug, Er Rachidia, Morocco. It has moderate lustre and multicoloured growing phantoms, from dark green to a yellow exterior layer, which is typical for the locality. These fluorites present a very intense colour change if illuminated with the sun light, turning much more deep bluish green coloured than shown in the pictures here, but quite transparent under artificial light.

The cubes are included by dozens of sulphide crystals near the surface, probably pyrite, and sometimes they are partially corroded, modifying lustre. It displays also a strong fluorescence under long, medium and short wave UV illumination. It is complete, without broken surfaces, just crystal faces or contact surfaces with adjacent crystals, but minor erosions as shown in the pictures. Much better in person, for sure!.

Ex. Iván Blanco collection.
