Description

Historic Banska Stiavnica (old german name Schemnitz) specimen: A cluster of very pale violet amethyst crystals perched upon a white, holey, quartz matrix with some tubular structures.

From old Dr. Krantz stock, comes with antique label in old german script (which may be an old copy, I'm not sure about this one).

The label means: "Amethystquarz auf weißem Quarz mit Eindrücken aufsitzend, thrüb, röhrenförmig, vom Sigismundistolln - Schemnitz in Ungarn" (Amethyst quartz sitting on white quartz with marks, cloudy, tubular, from Sigismundistolln - Schemnitz in Hungary).

The "Sigismundi Stollen" is mentioned in old literature, e.g. in
"JAHRESBERlCHT DER KGL. UNG. GEOLOGISCHEN ANSTALT 1. Jg FÜR 1894. BUDAPEST. DRUCK DES FRANKLIN-VEREIN. 1897"
