Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
New Cornwall Mine, Kadina, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
2.3 × 1.8 × 1.7 cm
Description

This is a good thumbnail from this clasic old locality, source of the largest atacamite crystals the world has ever seen, reportedly up to 23 cm long ! Many fine crystalspecimens went to museums and collections through out Europe at the time (1860s) but were however wrongly labelled as from the Burra Burra Mine.

This piece features small terminated crystals up to 4 mm long on matrix. A very hard to find locality specimen. See the special Australia issue of the mineralogical Record Vol.19, No. 6, 1988
