Description

Rich Type Locality specimen of very rare potassium-copper-sulfate mineral piypite. It forms green sprays and coatings on vulcanic tuff. There are some other notable minerals in the assemblage. The specimen is rich in dark red needles which is an unnamed, lyonsite like Cu-Fe vanadate. Also red, platy hematite is present with black isometric magnetite crystals. The whole mineral association was formed by fumarolic activity.
