Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Bald Hornet Claim, North Bend, King County, Washington, United States of America
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.9 × 5 × 4.7 cm
Description

A very rich specimen with sheaves of lustrous, olive-green, acicular luinaite-(oh) in and on a very nice group of rock crystals. Luinaite-(oh) may be the rarest of the tourmaline group with only 9 localities known so far. Some of the rock crystals almost completely overgrown with balls of acicular luinaite, other views show some nice bundles of the same.

Several of the quartz crystals are boken - unfortunately a Japan law twin amongst them. Nonetheless this is a very desirable, rare specimen.

Known from less than 10 localities worldwide, the Bald Hornet claim proably being the best. Collecting is forbidden there nowadays, because the area became a nature reserve.
