Description

I have a long history with Senegal since 1989. In 2007 I 're-discovered' the type locality of Senegalite - A real tiny locality consisting of a block of not more than a few cubic meters of vuggy material in the oxidation zone of an iron ore hill - the Mount Kourou Diakouma - the 'dark mountain/place'. With the help of a few locals, that soon became friends, I practically emptied the locality in the next two years. Later visits in 2011 confirmed that there is nothing worthwhile at the place anymore. I published a report about my 'adventure' in Lapis magazine in 2007.

Most of the best specimen went to European museums, the other material to collectors worldwide. Only a few good pieces are left now, mostly because I considered keeping them in my collection. This is one of them - and maybe the best. A very nice, well-colored senegalite vug on the front and another, smaller one on the back. Don't miss this.
