Fluorite

Floater

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Yindu Deposit, Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China (Peoples Republic)
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.2 × 5.7 × 2.9 cm
Description

This fluorite is really extraordinary: The cubes have grown on a crystallized quartz edge. With an edge length of 2.7 cm, the fluorites show shiny etched faces with a slight square texture. The special feature of this specimen is the intense colors that are particularly good to see with LED backlit. As you can see on the photos, the fluorites show lavender to purple center. In the outer area you see a green zoning along the edges and a blue color on the corners. The outermost zone (about 1.5 mm) is slightly pale yellow - almost colorless. The color wonder is crystallized as a floater. Also the backside is shiny healed and etched (third and sixth photo)! First, third, fourth, and sixth photos with lower LED light as backlit.
