Description

We present a classic piece of the "Malaespera" mine in the Bilbao district of "La Peña", formed by a matrix in which beautiful quartz crystals are appreciated, an oxide of vitreous luster, trigonal crystalline system and morphologically has 6-sided prisms . with pyramidal termination, among which are dispersed dolomite crystals, a carbonate of resinous gloss, trigonal crystalline system, with a rhombohedral prism shape and chalcopyrite crystals, a sulfur of metallic luster, yellow with iridescence, tetragonal crystalline system, opaque, with striated faces of great beauty The mine closed in the 70s, due to the proximity to the urban center of Bilbao, but for many years iron was extracted from the mine, first on the surface of the mountain and then from the subsoil, after closing ..., years later, fans of the world of mineralogy extracted large specimens such as the sample, which are in private collections.
